The Pathfinder improvements project is set to get underway with work starting this week near a section of the path known as “the frog pond,” which is located behind Bartlesville High School southeast of the Shawnee Trailhead.
This portion of the multi-phased project includes replacing a drainage structure in a washed-out area southeast of the Shawnee Trailhead. The trail is closed at the work area with signage at the Shawnee and Polaris trailheads advising that the trail ahead will dead end.
The $880,000 project is a priority project approved by voters in the 2018 and 2020 General Obligation Bond elections.
It includes improvements to the following areas, in order of planned construction and estimated construction time:
- Drainage structure near the “frog pond” (11 weeks)
- Douglass Park (2.5 weeks)
- Robinwood Park (5 weeks)
- Johnstone Park to Tuxedo bridge over the Caney River (10 weeks)
- Quapaw to Adams (3 weeks)
- Polaris Park (near Polaris Drive and Silver Lake Road (4 weeks)
The entire project is estimated to conclude by late spring 2025.
