Jim Curd elected mayor, Trevor Dorsey named vice mayor

The City Council began its new term on Monday with three new council members and a new mayor and vice mayor.

After taking the Oath of Office, administered by City Attorney Jess Kane, all five council members were seated to begin the first meeting of the new two-year term.

Their first actions were to elect a mayor and vice mayor, as is required at the beginning of each new term.

Following a lengthy discussion, the council elected Jim Curd, left, to serve as mayor and Trevor Dorsey, right, to serve as vice mayor. Curd has served on the council since 2016, including the last several years as vice mayor. (He also served previously from 1993-1997.) Dorsey has represented Ward 5 on the council since 2018.

Councilors Tim Sherrick of Ward 1, Larry East of Ward 2, and Aaron Kirkpatrick of Ward 4, were elected during the general election held Nov. 5.
