The City Council approved the creation of the Keep Bartlesville Beautiful Committee, which will be dedicated to enhancing the visual appeal and sustainability of Bartlesville.
“The committee will lead and coordinate beautification efforts in Bartlesville, focusing on main corridors, parks and neighborhood revitalization,” said Community Development Director Larry Curtis. “The committee will work closely with city departments, local organizations and the community to enhance the city’s aesthetics and promote sustainability.”
Key strategies for Keep Bartlesville Beautiful will include:
- Community Engagement. Engage residents through public forums, town hall meetings, and clean-up efforts.
- Partnerships. Collaborate with city departments like Parks & Recreation, Public Works, and Environmental Services.
- Project Identification & Implementation. Focus on high-impact areas, integrating sustainable practices, and maintaining existing beautification projects.
- Funding & Resources. The committee will seek $20,000 in the 2024-25 budget from City Council and additional funds through grants and donations.
- Affiliation. Pursue affiliation with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful/Keep America Beautiful for access to additional resources and best practices.
- Continuous Evaluation. Regularly assess the impact and effectiveness of beautification initiatives.
The committee will consist of seven members appointed by City Council, including the Community Development Director, one Council representative, a member from the Park Board and four representatives from within City limits.
An ordinance officially establishing the committee was passed by the Council on Monday night.
