Lisa Beeman to retire effective November 1

July 5, 2022

After 30 years of service with the City of Bartlesville, Community Development Director Lisa Beeman will retire her post effective Nov. 1.

Beeman began her career with the City Sept. 8, 1992, as the Planning director and was named Community Development director April 21, 1998. Her last day with the City will be Oct. 31.

“Through Lisa’s 30 years with the City she has been known to be a knowledgeable resource, an avid researcher, a fierce advocate for advancing our park system and recreational facilities and a Community Development extraordinaire,” Human Resources Director Laura Sanders told the City Council on Tuesday. “We appreciate her dedication, loyalty and service to the City and wish her all the best in her next chapter.”

The council voted 5-0 to enlist assistance from Strategic Government Resources in recruiting Beeman’s replacement. SGR is the same firm used in hiring the past two director-level positions, police chief in 2018 and fire chief in 2021.

“SGR will market strategically to attract qualified candidates for this position,” said Sanders. “They will assist City staff in reviewing applications and administering/evaluating a questionnaire for the top candidates. Later in the hiring process, SGR will complete the necessary background and reference checks. We’ve used SGR twice in the past and have found the process to be streamlined and the candidate pool quite competitive. We look forward to working with them again in filling this crucial position.”
