Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen presented an in-depth Capital Needs Report to the City Council on Monday, outlining past, present and future plans for street maintenance, parks and recreation and the City’s water and waste-water systems.
Responding to a request by Ward 2 councilor John J. Kane, Lauritsen presented several projects on the horizon for the City of Bartlesville, including the possibility of implementing a combined water reclamation system — also known as “water resuse.”
“This is referred to as a pivot in the way we think about long-term water supply,” Lauritsen said.
Lauritsen said implementation of a water reuse system could “buy us time” in identifying affordable, longer-term water options for future water supply.
Other projects presented to the council include ongoing street maintenance, parks projects and storm water priority project.
