Are you not going to post updates on our COVID numbers any longer?
This information is posted daily by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. This page will take you to statistics for the state as well as each county and city in the state. If you scroll down past the graphs, you will see the blue boxes separating information by county, city, zip code, etc. This way you can look at numbers representing Bartlesville and Washington County.
Monday siren test
I have recently moved to Bartlesville and have heard several sirens going off at random times on clear-weather days (today about 1:15 p.m. by Sooner Park). I suppose this is some kind of testing of the emergency alert system? Is there a public notification that alerts folks to this? I have tried searching for it and cannot seem to find it. I wondered if the Bartlesville alert system was for inclement weather only or also for possible industrial issues (chemical release, smoke, etc.).
First, welcome to Bartlesville! To your point: The sirens in question are specifically outdoor weather warning devices. Testing is done at 1:15 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, weather permitting. The alternate test day is the second Monday, also weather permitting. Testing notices are posted on Washington County Emergency Management’s Facebook page, as WCEM monitors, tests and activates the sirens on behalf of the City. Folks reporting on the testing may post their reports on the page or call the Emergency Operations Center at 918.331.2710. Reporters are asked to be specific as “many locations will hear multiple sirens.” Most sirens have a number posted on the box near the base of the pole, which should be reported when possible.
