Winter Storm Update

Trash trucks running Tuesday routes; City Hall, Library closed

UPDATES

Tuesday, Feb. 18

2:30 p.m.: Road crews continue treating and plowing streets. Crews will work in 12-hour shifts 24/7 for as long as necessary.

While some areas are dangerous for travel due to snow, no traffic accidents had been reported to Bartlesville Police Department as of 2 p.m.

“We recommend that everyone stay home if possible,” said Deputy Police Chief Andrew Ward. “Some areas have become difficult for travel and the wind is blowing snow, resulting in drifts in some places. It really depends on where you are, but the best thing to do is stay home if you can.”

Public Works Director Keith Henry says trash trucks will run tomorrow as they are able.

10 a.m.: The Recycle Center, located at 10th Street and Virginia Avenue, will be closed this week. (The center is normally open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.)

9:30 a.m.: City Hall and Bartlesville Public Library are closed today due to inclement weather.

Street Department crews are out treating bridges, intersections and main arterials as needed.

Trash trucks are running regular Tuesday routes.

We will provide updates here as information becomes available.

The City of Bartlesville has been closely monitoring the forecast this week in anticipation of a winter storm that is expected to bring extremely cold temperatures and possibly up to a foot of snow to the area.

Some facilities will have amended hours in anticipation of the storm, and police are asking people to avoid driving if they are able.

“We are encouraging everyone to avoid getting out on the roads unless they have to,” said Deputy Police Chief Troy Newell. “And for those who do have to get out, it is important to take every precaution to remain safe and ensure the safety of others. Slow down, leave early enough to give yourself plenty of time, and be mindful of other drivers on the roads at all times.”

Here’s what you need to know:

Roads

  • City crews are preparing to treat bridges, roads and intersections in accordance with the City’s Snow and Ice Removal Policy. Priority will be given to arterial streets with secondary focus on collector streets. Residential streets will be treated as crews are able. Crews will work around the clock in 12-hour shifts for as long as needed
  • More information can be found here: Snow, Ice Removal Procedures, Policy.
